    What is success?

    What does success mean?  When I first sat down to write this, I started by thinking about the big goals that Lifestyle Medicine has inspired me to look for… a purposeful, fulfilled, meaningful life with balance between the different aspects (pillars) of life.  Being a part of the Lifestyle Medicine community inspires me to have good healthy goals, to eat wholesome well-balanced nutrition, to be physically active, to be connected to those we have relationships with and our community, to practice good self-care, to look after our mental health and wellbeing, and to avoid those things that are unhelpful or harmful.     Welcome!

    New month, new start… At the beginning of this new month I am very happy and proud to launch my new project – my blog and website!  I have been working on putting it together for some time, and I am so excited to finally be able to share it with you!   When I started my instagram posts and facebook pages I never thought that I’d keep going.  I thought that I’d run out of things to say – although anyone who know me would probably tell you that is unlikely, as I love to talk!     Be kind to yourself.

    At the end of my 30 days of healthy habits I wanted to reflect on how best to use these tools, which are all things I speak to my patients about every day. Some key points: Don’t try and do all of the healthy habits at once, if they are new to you.  Pick whichever seems like it will serve you best, and build it into your routine.  Once it is a habit, and less effort to do, then pick another one.  Making one change at a time is more likely to succeed than overwhelming yourself and trying to do too much.
