11th January – Go for a run
Go for a run (or get active anyway you like!)
I was sooooooo pleased to see that the ice & snow had melted and it was safe enough to go out for a run – I am always impressed when I see people out running when it is snowy and icy, but I am way too much of a scaredy-cat and just end up looking like Bambi on ice. When it is snowy I stick to my big warm boots with extra grip and walk instead.
🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️So, today I laced up my trainers and went for my first run of 2021. From a physical fitness point of view, it wasn’t great, I haven’t run for over 2weeks so it was physically hard, I was slow, and it was slippy and muddy. However, mentally it was great – I felt great just getting out and moving.
🏊Exercise and physical activity is known to have a positive effect on feeling of wellbeing. It can also help both prevent and treat depression, infact exercise has been shown to be comparable to cognitive behavioural therapy for treatment of depression.
🚴🏻Lots of people are feeling the benefit by doing RED January, getting active everyday in January to help improve their mental health and wellbeing. It’s not too late to join them! Find out more at https://redtogether.co.uk and get moving!
